In this candid conversation, we speak with Georgina Harding, CEO of The Cycle, a not-for-profit building climate resilient communities across India through clean water access, menstrual dignity, regenerative livelihoods, and community-led ecological initiatives. Previously, she co-founded Semaine, a pioneering culture and commerce platform bringing together leading creatives, brands, and storytellers. Georgina was named in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe and is known for her work at the intersection of creativity, systems change, and social impact.
Together, we explore what meaningful systems change looks like in practice, and the importance of working collaboratively with local communities rather than imposing external solutions. Georgina shares how The Cycle supports locally led innovation, including projects transforming the invasive shrub Prosopis juliflora into biochar to support ecological restoration, regenerative agriculture, and economic empowerment.
We also speak about moving beyond colonial ideas of “charity” toward models rooted in reciprocity, dignity, and shared stakeholdership. Georgina reflects on the realities of environmental work on the ground, and how conversations framed around abstract ecological ideals can often come from positions of privilege when many communities are primarily focused on livelihood, survival, and daily wellbeing. We speak about how lasting change emerges not through enforcing solutions, but through creating meaningful options rooted in local realities and lived experience.
Alongside this, Georgina speaks openly about burnout, nervous system collapse, masculine and feminine balance within ourselves, and the importance of finding sustainability, nourishment, and even pleasure within the process of meaningful work — exploring alternatives to the numbing and disconnection so common in modern life.
Throughout the conversation, we reflect on active hope, direct action, and how even small acts — when rooted in care and relationship — can create ripples far beyond what we initially imagine.
